Scrapy Land - Challenge 127

Hello crafty friends,

Can you believe it's December... I'm not ready for the Holidays, but I am ready for the start of a new challenge.  The start of a new challenge is always fun. 

The card i created for this challenge is full of shine, but it's so hard to capture it in pictures.

I inked blended the background with several different brands/shades of red ink.  I used a circle die cut initially to masks were the angels would be, to keep those areas lighter in order to create halos or glows behind them.  Tip:  don't keep the mask in place during all of your blending in order to get a soft undefined area instead of a bold masked shape.

Once inked, I sprayed Glimmer Mist onto my inked panel and attached the panel onto my card base (4in x 8in). The top and bottom angels were taped flat, the middle angel i pop up with foam tape.

The angels are from Memory Box and they are sold separately.  Gilded Angel Background and Gilded Angel dies.  For my card, I die cut the background from silver glitter card stock and the lacy overlay die from velum for a soft look, but i found it too subtle, so I think white would have been a better choice.

Scrapy Land - Challenge 102

Hello craft friends,

Welcome to Scrapy Land Challenge 102... our theme is always "anything goes".

For this post I created a shaker card using the Cheery Lynn Design Lace Christmas Stocking die.

Since this die cuts out the entire stocking, I glued it onto a clear plastic sheet that was larger than then stocking.  I die cut craft foam using the die to get an exact shaped shaker pocket.

Send A Smile 4 Kids - Christmas in July 4 Kids

Hello and welcome to Send A Smile 4 Kids’ 175th Challenge!

I'm excited to join the Send A Smile 4 Kids celebration blog hop.  The theme is Christmas in July (4 Kids), because it is never too early to start making holiday cards for all the kids in the many children’s hospitals they now serve.  Send A Smile 4 Kids would love for each child to receive a holiday card as well as be able to pick a card or two for some special medical staff and/or loved ones during the holiday season.

I created two cards using the Tra La La digital stamp from All Dress Up Stamps.  On my first card, I printed several copies of the digital image.  You can't tell by the photo, but I ended up water coloring all the printed copies and once dry fussy cutting each of the animal apart (except the birds).  I wanted more dimension, so using foam I pop up the rabbit and the mouse and also the cat's scarf.

Card two was a fun one and came together a lot faster than card one.  Once again, I used several printed copies of the image, this time frame sections of them with my filmstrip die cut.  I used a black copic marker to color the filmstrip's background black, creating what I hope looks like a negative film affect.  I added a Spanish Merry Christmas (Feliz Navidad) die cut sentiment from Elizabeth Craft Designs.

Encouragement Squad - Dec 2017

Hello crafty friends,

Here's a link to this month's Calling All Sistahs Challenge blog and our inspiration colors are Red, Green, White and Black.  

The card I made has a "I'm thinking of you" sentiment on the front, which can be easily pared with a "during this holiday season" or "at Christmas time" on the card's inside.  The sentiment "I'm thinking of you" and the flowers are from the PRETTY POSIES stamp set.  The Holly from the SLEIGHRIDE stamp set and the sleigh from the SLEIGH FRI-DIES set.

Holidays 2016 - Series End

Hello crafty friends,

Today is the last day for this Holiday Series.  Even though I got sick during it, it's been so much fun. Thank you for helping me celebrate the season.  Here are the last few cards in my stash:

This card was easy, but took time, because I die cut those small flowers and glued them piece by piece onto my pattern paper card front.

I fell in love with this snowman tossing penguins stamp and ended up ordering it from Europe! Surprising the shipping was not an issue ($5)... lets face it, that's less than some pretty big online crafty store we all know and love.   By the way... I stamped the image and cut it out using my ScanNCut2.

On these last two cards I used another digital stamp from justMEdigitalstamps called Snow Buddies.

Holiday 2016 - Better Not Pout

Holiday 2016 - Bah Humbug

Today's card is one of my favorites. It doesn't have cute kitties or bears or even a penguin... it has only one big red grumpy bird and I LOVE him, because I can totally relate.  The Holidays isn't always a happy time for everyone.  It can be emotionally, physically and mentally exhausting for many people. This card is for them... my fellow grumpies

Holiday 2016 - Newton Returns

Today's card features Newton from the Ornamental Newton and Newton's Curious Christmas stamp sets.  The Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year sentiment is a die set by Impression Obsession.

This card is very glittery and for those who know me, know that I don't like glitter.  At least, I don't like the kind of glitter that falls of decorations and cards.   The glitter I use comes from one of two places... glittery card stock that you can run your hand across and not pickup any glitter and glitter glues/adhesives.  Both versions were used on this card:

Holiday 2016 - Bear with Snowman

Hello crafty friends,

Two cards today, both using a super cute bear from JustMEdigitalstamps.  This guys is called Christmas bear with snowman.  I so love him and love that his digital, so I can custom size him from any project I'm working on.  

The first card has more of a winter theme.  I used the lovely snowflake by Unity Stamps called Magical Days and some wood snowflakes I painted lilac, 

The second card is definitely a Christmas/New Years card, but I still used the Magical Days stamp in the background for a frosty look.  The Merry Christmas die cut is from Impression Obsession.

I love this bear and plan on making some winter birthday cards with in Jan and Feb 2017.  Thanks for stopping bye, until next time... take care.

Holiday 2016 - Feliz Navidad

Hello crafty friends,

Today's card features a Spanish sentiment... Merry Christmas in Spanish...

I used a ribbon ornament coloring page image I found on the internet.  I colored the ribbons red and them covered them with red glue glitter.  I outlined them with a thick black pen, because I lost most of the original outline between the coloring and gluing.  I fussy cut the insides of the ornaments and turned the panel into a shaker top.  My finishing touches was to add three Feliz Navidad die cuts from Elizabeth Crafts and a few sequins.

Holiday 2016 - Word Ornaments

Hello crafty friends, 

The first card I'm showcasing today using a fun set of dies from Die-Versions called Word Ornaments.  Sadly they are discontinued, so I can't link to them. 

I used a combination of red and green foil card stock to die cut the ornaments and fussy cut the ornaments' backing.  I arranged the ornaments in a tight circle to form a wreath.  My initial plan was to just use the ornament, but the card was lacking something, so I added some die cut greenery and some enamel dots. 

This second card is one I also posted on the Die-Versions' blog as my Design Team project.  I'm so happy that it turned out looking as elegant as i hoped it would.   

I created an ornament shaker window with tiny gold stars and beads inside and a beautiful red glitter card stock Season's Greetings die cut on top.  Here's a quick video of the shaker card in action...

Christmas is on my mind

Even thou I spent a good portion of this weekend working on my Halloween cards, I have been thinking about my Christmas cards for several weeks now.   I haven't yet focused on my design, too many different ideas still going through my mind, thanks to Pinterest.

And speaking of Pinterest... last weekend I found a card by Yana Smakula on Pinterest that I like so much I ended up scrap-lifting the idea and creating my own version of it.   Here's my version of the card:

I used the Die-Versions' Whispers - Polished Diamond die, which I die cut from Green, Red and Purple glitter paper.   The Merry & Bright text is from the Stampin Up "Merry & Type" stamp set.

I used wood grain pattern paper, because I currently obsessed with the stuff :)

Nothing went to waste on this card, because I used all the little pieces from the die cuts.  

I'll post my Halloween cards here a few days after I mail them and people have received them.
