More Celebrate Ideas

Hello crafty friends,

A few days ago I posted this card using the Creative Expressions - Paper Cuts Collection - Celebrate Edger die, which I haven't stop playing with.

Here are a two more cards I created...

On this card I cut a panel to fit my card base and die cut the Celebrate at the top of it.  Next I stamped these cute animals from the Stampin Up We Must Celebrate set, which I colored with my Zig Brushes.  For some extra pop, I added stars from my collection.

The next card was way more time consuming, because I didn't think it out beforehand.  Here's are a few pictures of the steps I took:

and here's a poorly shot video of my playing:

Well, I hope I've given you some fun ideas on how to use this die.  I would love to get your thoughts on any of this... and if you have another idea you want me to try out, please leave me a comment.  Until next time... stay crafty.

Scrapy Land - Challenge 108

Welcome to Scrapy Land Challenge 108, craft friends...

Here's the card I made for this challenge using the Creative Expressions - Paper Cuts Collection - Celebrate Edger.   Oops, looks like it's currently out of stock, but here are other dies by Creative Expressions.

This die would look great as intended on the right side of a sideways folding card, but
I wanted it at the top of my top folding card and here's how I did it.

I took a blank 5.5" square card and cut it in half at the fold line.  I glued pattern paper
onto what would be my top/front side and die cut the celebrate.

Next I created a fold in my other card section (the bottom or inside).  I took into
consideration how far down the card the die cut design was and the overall finish card size.

I glue pattern paper to the top of the short fold.  This pattern paper will be seen through
the die cut design once the top section get glue to the short fold.

Here's a look at the inside.

I covered the inside with another die cut section in order to hide the seam... but, I should
have made this cover piece a little taller, because you can still see the seams through the stars.

The overall card fits into the 5x5" square envelope.

Thanks for stopping bye.... I hope you'll join us for this challenge.  The winners... one selected randomly and one selected by the Design Team will both receive a $10 gift certificate to Scrapy Land.  Until next time... take care.

Cosmic Newton

Hello crafty friends,

I have been in a funk, with no interest in crafting (I know... shocking) for a few weeks now.  So after packing up all my Christmas stamps and other crafty stuff, I pulled a few of my favorite stamp sets and placed them on my desk hoping they would bring my creativity out.

on Sunday, I sat down and started working on a couple of watercolor backgound panels and later added Cosmic Newton (from SSS) to one of the panels.  The two astronaut Newtons are popped up on Action Wobbles.

I used my Prima Metallic Watercolor set for all the coloring.  Since I wanted my background dark and pigmented, I didn't dilute the watercolors with water too much.  I also went with an ombre kind of affect to mimic the trip into outer space.  The cats are not as shimmery, because I diluted the watercolors with lots water.

It's hard to capture the shimmer in a photo.

Thanks for stopping bye to check out my Cosmic Newtons.  Wish me luck, because I'm entering this card in the current Simon Says Wednesday Interactive Card theme Challenge.

Scrapy Land - Challenge 107

Welcome to Scrapy Land Challenge 107, craft friends...

Not only did January fly bye, but it ended VERY cold for us in the Midwest, which is probably why I'm dreaming of spring flowers and 70 degree days.

These 3 cards were super fast and easy to create and are now at the top of my "just because" card pile.  I used Poppy Stamps Susanna Blossom die.   The flower on right card and tag were die cut from pattern paper.  the flower on the left card was die cut from watercolor paper and painted with distress inks.

Thanks for stopping bye.... I hope you'll join us for this challenge.  The winners... one selected randomly and one selected by the Design Team will both receive a $10 gift certificate to Scrapy Land.  Until next time... take care.
