Three Cards w/Stamps from Brutus Monroe

Hello crafty friends,

It's a good feeling when you use stamps (any product really) that has been sitting around unused and therefore unloved for a while.  I got these three stamps a while ago and they just sat waiting for me to play with them and I finally did.  Here are the cards I made with them in no order, because I can't pick a favorite... I love them all

Card 1, does not have a sentiment on the front, so I could use it for anything really, but this card will be going out soon to a special couple as a belated (I'm always late) anniversary card.  I used Taylored Expressions Birch Tree Background die and the Brutus Monroe Owl Love You stamp

Card 2, is fun and I think totally male card.  I know several guys in my family who would love to get this card.  So if you want dibs on it, you better speak up.  This card obviously started with the super CUTE dog wearing headphones stamp from Brutus Monroe Rockstar Pets stamp set (there's a super COOL cat in the set also).  I colored them w/my zig watercolor brush pens, using a clear wink of stella to move the watercolor around for lots of sparkle.  I also used the Die-Versions Birthday die, which is no longer available.  The spatters on the background are from a water down black wink of stella and in person they look grey instead of black, which is kind of cool and edgy.

Card 3, is going to a true Chicago lover.  I have someone in mind, even though I'm not sure when her bday is :)  Really how cool are the Brutus Monroe city globes!  This one is called City Sidewalks - Chicago.  I colored it by with an ink blender and distressed inks... super easy and fast.   The curvy  birthday die is from Serendipity Stamps and goes so well w/the globe.

Well, those are my three cards.  Thanks for stopping bye to check them out... do you have a favorite, leave me a comment telling which is your favorite and I'll pick one random comment to win their favorite, which I'll custom make for them.

Penguin LOVE

Hello crafty friends,

I LOVE penguins.  I wish I could have one as a pet, but I'm against having wild animals as pets.  So instead I buy lots of cute penguins products and this stamp set from Your Next Stamp is definitely CUTE.

Thanks for stopping bye today.  Until next time... take care.

DRU - Red White and Blue

Hello craft friends,

Mary here with a watering can full of red and white flowers on a background of blue for a patriotic weekend card.

I used the following four sets of dies on my card:

the Grand Water Can by Poppy, die cut from white card stock
the Lacy Poppies by Elizabeth Craft Designs, die cut from white and red card stock
the Star Spray by Creative Expressions, die cut from red card stock
the Lg Staghorn Coral by Frantic Stamper, die cut from white card stock

This card requested a few die sets, but once all the elements were die cut, came together super fast.  I  started by covering the background with blue pattern paper leaving a small white border, next placing the watering can (with a little foam tape in the center) and arranging all the die cut elements into it.  This fun card is going on our mantle this holiday weekend.  Do you use cards to decorate your space?

Don't forget to come join in the fun at the Dies R Us Challenge Blog.  There's a new challenge theme offered on the 1st and 15th of each month and one lucky randomly drawn winner will receive a gift voucher prize to the Dies R Us Store.  For your convenience, all the important Dies R Us links are provided below.

Scrapy Land - Challenge 128

Hello crafty friends,

My last Christmas card for the challenge this year is this simple glitter card stock one.

I stated by covering my card front with a gray striped pattern paper that has a tiny red line.  Then i die cut all three of the Elizabeth Craft Designs Beaded Ovals from red glitter card stock and arranged them on the card overlapping.  This set is currently not available, but the store has the Circle set in stock.

Next I die cut the shadow from the Tim Holtz Sizzix Shadow Script Christmas Words "Merry" from green card stock and the top layer from red card stock. This set is currently not available, but the store has these other three sets.

At this point, I felt the card needed something else, so I looked through my dies and found the ornament shaped tag from the Impression Obsession Shaped Tags die set.  I die cut it from green card stock and placed it towards the top of the card.  I fussy cut the "string" for it.

this photo shows the Elizabeth Craft Designs Stitched Squares, because the card started as a 5.5x5.5 square until I trimmed the sides and turned it into a regular A2 size, because I thought it went better with the oval dies.

As always, thanks for stopping bye.... I hope you'll join us for this challenge.  One winner... selected randomly will receive a $15 gift code to Scrapy Land.  Top three and honorable mentions will be selected by the Designers.  Until next time... take care and HAPPY Holiday to you and yours.

Impression Obsession Challenge - Happy Easter

Hello crafty friends,

I'm submitting this card to the Impression Obsession Challenge running until April 2nd.   The theme is Happy Easter.

This card kind of evolved on it's own.  I started with the stamped egg carrots and added the bunnies around them.  When I was done it looked like a section of an Easter mandala.

Thanks for stopping bye.

Scrapy Land - Challenge 108

Welcome to Scrapy Land Challenge 108, craft friends...

Here's the card I made for this challenge using the Creative Expressions - Paper Cuts Collection - Celebrate Edger.   Oops, looks like it's currently out of stock, but here are other dies by Creative Expressions.

This die would look great as intended on the right side of a sideways folding card, but
I wanted it at the top of my top folding card and here's how I did it.

I took a blank 5.5" square card and cut it in half at the fold line.  I glued pattern paper
onto what would be my top/front side and die cut the celebrate.

Next I created a fold in my other card section (the bottom or inside).  I took into
consideration how far down the card the die cut design was and the overall finish card size.

I glue pattern paper to the top of the short fold.  This pattern paper will be seen through
the die cut design once the top section get glue to the short fold.

Here's a look at the inside.

I covered the inside with another die cut section in order to hide the seam... but, I should
have made this cover piece a little taller, because you can still see the seams through the stars.

The overall card fits into the 5x5" square envelope.

Thanks for stopping bye.... I hope you'll join us for this challenge.  The winners... one selected randomly and one selected by the Design Team will both receive a $10 gift certificate to Scrapy Land.  Until next time... take care.

Cosmic Newton

Hello crafty friends,

I have been in a funk, with no interest in crafting (I know... shocking) for a few weeks now.  So after packing up all my Christmas stamps and other crafty stuff, I pulled a few of my favorite stamp sets and placed them on my desk hoping they would bring my creativity out.

on Sunday, I sat down and started working on a couple of watercolor backgound panels and later added Cosmic Newton (from SSS) to one of the panels.  The two astronaut Newtons are popped up on Action Wobbles.

I used my Prima Metallic Watercolor set for all the coloring.  Since I wanted my background dark and pigmented, I didn't dilute the watercolors with water too much.  I also went with an ombre kind of affect to mimic the trip into outer space.  The cats are not as shimmery, because I diluted the watercolors with lots water.

It's hard to capture the shimmer in a photo.

Thanks for stopping bye to check out my Cosmic Newtons.  Wish me luck, because I'm entering this card in the current Simon Says Wednesday Interactive Card theme Challenge.

Scrapy Land - Challenge 106

Hello craft friends,

Welcome to Scrapy Land Challenge 106...

With Valentines Day a few weeks away, I reached for my love theme dies and using the Impression Obsession Cupid dies I created this simple card.

I used a chunky white glittery paper for my cupids.  Behind the cupids i used a woodgrain heart, but I really like the idea of using the Memory Box Sending Love Heart die, so I think I have to add that one to my wishlist.

Thanks for stopping bye.... I hope you'll join us for this challenge.  The winners... one selected randomly and one selected by the Design Team will both receive a $10 gift certificate to Scrapy Land.  Until next time... take care.

Impression Obsession - New Beginnings

Hello crafty friends,

The Impression Obsession challenge running until Jan 22nd is about celebrating new beginnings.  I used the Sweet Celebration stamp set for my one layer card that celebrates the start of 2019.  I first stamped the cakes and using a mask to cover them I stamped the sparklers.   I used Distress Oxide inks for all my water coloring.

I got this stamp set (and a few others) for Christmas and I just couldn't wait to use it.

Thanks for stopping bye... wish me luck.

IO Challenge - Happy New Year

Hello crafty friends,

I'm using my design team Happy New Year card as my entry into the current Impression Obsession challenge , which has a theme of Holiday Greetings (any holiday).

This card was a quick one to build.  I die cut my harlequin pattern onto my card base panel.  The Happy New Year is one of two dies in the Merry Christmas die set.  For this card I die cut it three times for a thicker card element.

Thanks for stopping bye... wish me luck.

Scrapy Land - Challenge 105

Hello craft friends,

Welcome to Scrapy Land Challenge 105...  For this challenge I created two Happy New Year cards using the following products:

The IO Happy New Year die set is not currently available, but this Penny Black one is.   As for the corner die, here are links to some that I like... Memory Box Honeycomb and Poppystamps Ring a Ding.

You are in luck when looking for snowflake dies, because Scrapy Land has a TON of them... here's a link to some.

Thanks for stopping bye.... I hope you'll join us for this challenge.  The winners... one selected randomly and one selected by the Design Team will both receive a $10 gift certificate to Scrapy Land.  Until next time... take care.

Inspiration Squad - Challenge 215

Hello crafty friends...
Welcome to CAS-ual Friday's Challenge #215.   Our theme for this challenge is ...

I have to admit I don't do a lot of dry embossing, so I created a very simple die embossed element for my card.   I die cut a tag and using the Treble Clef die, I created an embossed element on the corner of the tag.  I tied the Treble Clef die with Holiday music theme pattern paper and sentiments from the Mistletoe & Holly stamps set.

My last card for this challenge is a simple thank you one using the "thanks" die from the Smiling die set.  This card goes out to Michele.  A simple, but heartfelt thanks for offering this newbie (me) a spot on this design team.  It's been a wonderful experience.

Remember... 10 winning entries will be highlighted on this blog each Thursday before a new challenge is set to go live the next day.  In addition, Michele has generously offered up a $25 gift certificate to the overall winner at CAS-ual Fridays Stamps.   If the chosen winner has used CAS-ual Fridays stamps and/or dies as the main focus in the card, that gift certificate will increase to $50.

Thanks for stopping bye... until next time, take care.

Hello craft friends,

Welcome to Scrapy Land Challenge 104... our theme is always "anything goes".

I created a fun pet card for this challenge using the Frantic Stamper Christmas Pets die set.  The "happy holidays" stamp is from an old tiny sentiment stamp set.

Inspiration Squad - Challenge 214

Hello crafty friends...
Welcome to CAS-ual Friday's Challenge #214.   Our theme for this challenge is ...

The inspiration photo made me think of ornaments, so I created a card with a large ornament.

I created a circle ornament from white glitter paper using the Ornament Tag die.  On red and green glitter papers I stamped and die cut a few flowers and leaves from the Pretty Posies stamp and die sets.  I glued my flowers and leaves onto the white ornament die cut and glued that onto my card.  I added the "Merry" from the Merry die set and a few Nuvo drops as my finishing touches.

Inspiration Squad - Challenge 213

Hello crafty friends...
Welcome to CAS-ual Friday's Challenge #213.   Our theme for this challenge is ...

So for my card I used gold glitter paper and gold metallic paper.  First I positioned and die cut the Funky Flakes from the gold glitter paper that would become my card top panel.  I used score tape to attach this panel to my card base.  It was during this step that I kind of messed up.  the score tape was so strong that it didn't give me a chance to adjust the die cut flake openings, so when I added my metallic die cut flakes I end up with gaps that showed the white card base :(

As you can see, I made some of the flakes dimensional by adding a second flake that was only glued at the base.

Inspiration Squad - Challenge 212

Hello crafty friends...
Welcome to CAS-ual Friday's Challenge #212.   Our theme for this challenge is this sketch...

I created this card using the Bushy Tailed stamps set.

the card front in raised on foam for dimension, under it distressed inked several colors to make the cute animals pop.  My banner is glued flat to the gray card front.
