Coffee Shop Background

Hello crafty friends,

I have been meaning to post about this for a while...  I was inspired by Sandy Allnock's hipster card and video to try my hand at creating a copic scene background.  So using the bear w/coffee cup digital stamp from kindacutebypatricia on Esty, I copied her backgound design.

I found it easier than expected and I'm very happy with my final card.  My take-a-way after this are... 1) I want to take some of Sandy Allnock background classes and 2) need to refill several of my copics.

Inspiration Squad - may2018 Challenge 200

Happy Friday crafty friends... welcome to CAS-ual Friday's Challenge #200!   For this challenge, we are celebrating the 8th birthday of the CAS-ual Fridays Challenge blog.  Michele has a great new stamp set called Celebrate that is yours for FREE with a qualifying $40 minimum purchase.

I made three cards using the new Celebrate stamp set... of this first card, I stamped the words on my card panel in gray ink.  Next I did some ink blending with my Distress Oxide Inks.  To finish my card I added a white glitter paper die cut jack from the Jumping Jacks Fri Die set.

For my second card... I created a shaker element using the Jumping Jacks Fri Die.  Some pattern paper and Celebrate sentiment from the Celebrate stamp set.

My third project was  a quick and simple tag using the Happy and the B-Day stamps from the Celebrate stamp set, the jacks from the Jumping Jacks Fri Die and some Distress Ink purple.

What are your playing for? 10 winning entries will be highlighted on this blog each Thursday before a new challenge is set to go live the next day.  In addition, Michele has generously offered up a $25 gift certificate to the overall winner at CAS-ual Fridays Stamps. And if that weren't enough, if the chosen winner has used CAS-ual Fridays stamps and/or dies as the main focus in the card, that gift certificate will increase to $50.

Thanks for stopping bye today. Until next time take care.

IO Challenge - Stamp a Background

Hello crafty friends,

UPDATE 5/25:   I'm doing a happy dance, because I just found this card won the "Stamp a Background Challenge"!  Thank you Impression Obsession!

Impression Obsession current challenge is "stamp a background", which is such a fun challenge.  Creating a stamped card background is so easy and can be done with the very same stamp you are using for the card's main focus.  Here's the card I made...

I started by stamping a few Hearts With Flowers on post-it-notes to create a few masks.  Next, using the masks, I stamped the Hearts With Flowers on my card background turning the stamps to vary the placement.  In a matter of minutes (fussy cutting the masks took the longest) I had a stamped background that would match my card's main element perfectly.  As you can see, I used the Hearts With Flowers as my main focus element.  To add interest, I stamped it three times and fussy cut it into three sections.  The heart (top), the blue flower and leaves (2nd layer) and the purple flowers.  placed the sections on top of each other with foam tape for dimension and interest.

I made go back and add Nuvo Drops to circles on the stamp background, but I can't decide on what color of drop.  Any suggestions?   Thanks for stopping... until next time, take care.

Aurora Wings Challenge #66

Hello crafty friends,

I will let you in on a secret...  I used this challenge as an excuse to buy the Aurora Wings Trick or Treat Kids digital stamp now instead of waiting until Halloween was closer.

The Aurora Wings Challenge #66 theme is... Black & White (with or without a splash of color), so I used shades of black watercolors and a "splash" of orange to create my card.  I'll let you in on another secret... this started out as a one layer card, but I messed up on my ink blending and ended up redoing the kids and adding them to the stitched panel on dimensional tape.

Thanks for stopping bye. Until next time... take care.

Scrapy Land Challenge #90

Hello crafty friends,

Welcome to the start of Scrapy Land Challenge #90.  Come join us... the theme as always is "anything goes".

For this challenge I created a set of note cards using one of the Elizabeth Craft Designs Stitched Squares.

This first note card features the Adorable Skunk from Frantic Stamper gesturing to a stitched speech bubble die cut with a stamped sentiment. The green stitched panel was also die cut from one of the Elizabeth Craft Designs Stitched Squares.

This second note card features the Lets Fly bird die by Penny Black and a stamped sentiment. The teal stitched panel was also die cut from one of the Elizabeth Craft Designs Stitched Squares.

Here's a video showing how I created these note cards:

Thanks for stopping bye.... please join us for this challenge.  The winners... one selected randomly and one selected by the Design Team will both receive a $10 gift certificate to Scrapy Land.  Until next time... take care.

Inspiration Squad - may2018 Challenge 199

Happy Friday crafty friend... welcome to CAS-ual Friday's Challenge #199.  This challenge's inspiration is this sketch...

Which I interpreted like this...

I made a one layer using the balloon and the "what's up" stamps from the Somebunny stamp set.

I should mention that the balloon is not a stand alone stamp, it's connected to the bunny.  The first thing I did when I got this set was cut them apart.  I can always stamp them as they were meant to be when needed, but in the meantime having them apart makes them a lot more usable to me.

Hope you can join us in this challenge. What are your playing for? 10 winning entries are highlighted on the  CAS-ual Fridays blog the Thursday before a new challenge goes live.  We call it the Happy Hour! In addition, a $25 gift certificate goes to the overall winner.  If the chosen winner uses CAS-ual Fridays stamps and/or dies as the main focus for the card, the gift certificate increases to $50.

Thank you for stopping bye today.  I look forward to seeing your submissions based on our sketch for this month's challenge.

Scrapy Land Challenge #89

Hello crafty friends,

Welcome to the start of Scrapy Land Challenge #89, where the theme is always "anything goes".

I love how this card turned out.  I used two dies and two pieces of pattern paper.  First, I die cut the "thinking of you" towards the bottom of a piece of white card stock that was big enough to fit the flowers, which I die cut second.   Once I had my final die cut element, I attached it to my ombre pattern paper and wrapped bakers twine in between the flowers and the words for added interest.  I used foam to give this panel dimension on my card.  I added some red sequins as a finishing touch.

The two die sets I used are Frantic Stamper Contemporary Floral Border and Impression Obsession Bottom Word Edgers, which sadly is currently not available...  so I'm linking the Holiday version, because they are on my wish list for Holiday cards this year.

Thanks for stopping bye.... please join us for this challenge.  The winners... one selected randomly and one selected by the Design Team will both receive a $10 gift certificate to Scrapy Land.  Until next time... take care.
