Holiday 2016 - Bah Humbug

Hello crafty friends,

Today's card is one of my favorites. It doesn't have cute kitties or bears or even a penguin... it has only one big red grumpy bird and I LOVE him, because I can totally relate.  The Holidays isn't always a happy time for everyone.  It can be emotionally, physically and mentally exhausting for many people. This card is for them... my fellow grumpies

Holiday 2016 - Ho Ho Ho

Hello crafty friends,

Still not feeling great, but I have to get this house ready for Christmas...or at the very least a somewhat less over-the-top version of Christmas. If only decorating was as easy as posting.

Last night I felt good and actually crafted... made this card in fact and i love it so much I had to bump the previously schedule card for this one :)

Those hearts you see in the background are from Your Next Stamp's Heart Ink Splatter.  I love adding this stamp into projects.  I cut the Hs from red and green glitter card stock on my ScanNCut2.   I also used the ScanNCut2 to cut out my Copic colored Newton's Nook Ornamental Newton.  I placed the middle Newton on a wobble for some extra fun.   Here's a video:

Holiday 2016 - Tall Snowman

As I sit typing this, we are getting our first snow of the season.  The cats are watching from my craft room window... I wonder what they think about snow (or anything else for that matter).  In honor of the falling snow, I selected this card for today's post.

I fell in love with this tall snowman when I first saw it and just had to have him.  Thankfully for both my wallet and my impatient self he was a digital image from Sassy Cheryl's Decked out for the Holidays.

I printed him out and went to work on him.  I used Copic markers for him and the blue background. Sorry, I didn't keep track of what colors I used.  I used the Falling Snow stencil from Simon Says Stamps for the icy looking snow and a new product I picked up recently called Glitter Paste (Sugar) from BoBunny, which I absolutely love.  Will have to pick up some red for Valentine heart cards :)

My finishing touch for the card was to add a grouping of die cuts at the bottom right of the card w/a fun sentiment.   This card makes me smile.   Don't be surprise if you see this snowman make another appearance soon.   Until next time... take care.

Holiday 2016 - Merry Christmas Candy Canes

Today's card is one I'm also posting on the Die-Versions' blog as my Design Team project.  This die is my most reached for Christmas die... in my opinion, along with the Complements - Everyday die it's one of the best dies in the whole Die-Versions line.   I talking about the Complements - Holiday 1 die, which is actually several words dies in one... and it's currently on SALE!

The Merry Christmas on the card below in just one of the words in this die.  This card is a good example of a card made with very few items.  One die, one image (the candy canes image is a digital stamp form Power Poppy Stamps, so it was extremely inexpensive... $1 actually), 1 6x6 sheet of pattern paper and 1 piece of white card stock (actually i used watercolor paper).  

I'm going to start working on my December daily now... bye.

It's beginning to look...

Yes, it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in my craft room.  I'm been making my list and checking it twice to make sure I use all my lovely Holidays stamps, dies and papers.  Here's a peek at just a few of the goodies I'm be working playing with:

I had so my fun making different (not all the same) cards for Halloween, that I've decided to do the same for Christmas.  My Christmas Holiday Card Series will start after Thanksgiving on Saturday, Nov 26th.

Halloween Card 11 - So Corny

Hello crafty friends,

life sometimes gets in the way of crafting.  So I'm back a day late with the next installment in the series.   Today's card is very cute (if I'm allow to say) and I hope you love it.

These corny guys and gals are from Your Next Stamp... the set is called So Corny and I fell in LOVE w/them as soon as I saw them.

I used my Zig Watercolor Brush Markers to color them on watercolor paper.  Are you ready to see the inside?

I found the prefect sentiment in my stash of old stamps.  Sorry, it wasn't in any packaging, so I have no idea who's it by, but it was a clear stamp.  I'll be back this weekend with the final post in the series and a photo of the giveaway.

Halloween Card 10 - Open Pumpkin

I'm so enjoying making the cards for this Halloween series, so I hope you are enjoying them as well. Normally, I make 10 of the same Halloween card to send to family.  This is the first time I've made so many different cards for one occasion... and its been so my fun.

Today's card uses a very old stamp by Judi Kins I got years ago at a stamp resale fair.

I was going to create a Halloween scene inside the pumpkin, but I had just open my MFT order, which contained the Sending and Hugs die words and they called to me.  So I used them along w/the Halloween word die from a Little B Halloween word die set.  I die cut all three words from glitter cardstock.  Added some black enamel to the pumpkins eyes and nose and on all four corners of the card.  They aren't perfectly round (have to practice some more), but they are ok on a Halloween card. I added some leaves to the top of the pumpkin and because I felt something else was needed I carefully lifted the pumpkin and added three rows of thin washi tape.

Halloween Card 8 and 9 - Pattern Paper

Hello crafty friends,

I found some cute word art pattern papers in an old 6x4 Halloween pad and decided to make them the foundation for my next two cards.

On the orange card, since it mentions ghosts, witches and spiders, I added some of those die cut shapes.  The Spider and Witch are from Die-Versions.  The Ghosts are from Impression Obsession.  I die cut the spider and witch from black glitter paper and backed them w/white cardstock, so they had a white shallow.  Did the same for the ghost w/silver glitter paper.  The spider webs were made with a punch from black cardstock.

On the green card, I used the same spider web punch, but just on one side.  Added some black twine and some Stickles to the bubbles.  I kept this version very simple to show that you don't need a lot of products to make a cute card.

Halloween Card 7 - Pumpkins

Halloween Card 6 - Three Amigos

You are going to love today's card.  I had the idea for it while driving home from work yesterday and after dinner sat down to create it.  I'm so happy with how it turned out.

Here's a close up...

I started by searching though my pattern papers for background elements like the house, the spooky trees and the moon.  I paper pieced the background and added a dark green hill.  Next I stamped and colored my Mama Elephant Three Amigos.  I was going to stamp Trick or Treat (3 words, 3 signs), but ended up searching my stash for small Halloween sentiments stamps that would fit their signs instead.  I meant to give each character hat costumes, but completely forgot... LOL

I love this stamps set and especially love using these cuties in unexpected ways.  They just go with everything.  I hope you have enjoyed today's projects and that it inspires you to make some of your own.  I'll be back on Thursday w/a new project.  Bye!

Halloween Card 5 - Wreaths

Wreaths are very popular lately, so I brushed the cobwebs off my wreath die and created these two cards.  One Halloween and the other Fall.  A wreath die or stamp makes the prefect foundation for any card.  For my wreaths I used an Impression Obsession die.

On my Halloween card, I die cut the wreath from back card stock.  I used three tombstones from the Your Next Stamp graveyard set, ghost from the Impression Obsession Mini Ghost set, and the word Halloween from the Little B Halloween Phrases set.

Here's a closed up showing how glittery the ghost are after I used by clear glitter marker on them.

On my Fall card, I die cute the wreath from brown card stock.  Added some small punched flowers w/glitter dots in the center.   The large flower is from Cheery Lynn Sunflower die.  I used a button for the center.

Halloween Card 4 - Trick or Treat

Hello crafty friends,  here's my card for today...

As you know I love Halloween... I also love cats (have two), so you can image... I have tons of cat stamps.  Some of my favorites are of Newton.  This one is Newton's Perfect Pumpkin from Newton's Nook Designs.  The Trick or Treat... OMG, I just realized I glued the words down wrong... LOL! Well, the "Treat or Trick" is from Little B's.

Halloween Card 3 - Jack-O-Lantern Envelope

Hello craft friends... Today's card started w/a jack-o-lantern vellum envelope I found in the dollar section.

I glued the envelope onto my card front.  Added some stampted spider webs, which I colored parts of w/my zig orange marker.  The little ghost and boos are actually attached to the inside panel.

Which I added, so that I can write my greeting.  I may even add a gift card for some hot chocolate behind the panel.

Halloween Card 2 - Jack-O-Lantern

For my second card in the series, I used my new Lil'inker's Pumpkin Faces die set to die cut Jack-O-Lantern faces on a black glitter tag.  I lined the back of the tag w/foam squares for dimension and backed it with orange card stock.  I used a small Jack-O-Lantern face stamp to create my background right on the card front. My finishing touch was to add tiny ghosts from an Impression Obsessions die set.

Halloween Card 1 - Haunting Cat

Welcome crafty friends!

I have ignored my blog for months, so I gave myself a project that was sure to motivate me.   Today is Oct 1st and it's the prefect day to start my Halloween Series.  My goal is to create and post a new Halloween or Fall themed card every other day during this month.  If I'm counting right, that will be about 15 cards... right? So lets get started!

Card 1 features the Happy Haunting Cat from Rubbernecker that I picked up at the August 2016 Scrapbook Expo.

I started w/a pattern paper mat that was an 1/8th of inch smaller than my A2 size top folding card. Next I die cut two tags from an off white tiny text halloween print pattern paper, I layered them and stamped my spooky cat on top.  I added a few sequences and inked the edges of my card w/orange distress ink.

Happy 4th of July

I hope your July 4th weekend is FUN packed.  We started ours by attending a Hot Air Balloon Festival a few towns over.   Tomorrow we'll be celebrating the 4th with my In-Laws.

Normally I don't do any crafting during the week, because by the time I get home from work and eat dinner, I'm usually mentally done.   But this week, work was lite and I was able to leave early a couple of days.  I put the extra time at home to good use, no I didn't do any cleaning, I craft, of course!

I started a Art Journal page celebrating American's birthday.  Here's the finished page displayed with other patriotic items, like the ceramic flag plate I made last month:

I used the following Die-Version dies:
the Whispers - Independence Bell
the Whispers - Statue Of Liberty
the Whispers - Patriotic Banner
the Sole Sentiments - Happy Birthday, a top favorite of mine!
the Font - Magical for the USA letters

I also used a die cut of the Whispers - Bricks Background die to create a stencil, which I used to apply white embossing paste.

The black text comes from an older stamp set called Americana Silhouettes by Tim Holtz.

The flag was a free clip art I found on the internet.  I sized it to take up most of a 8.5x11 sheet of cards stock and printed it. I fussy cut it and glued it to my page using gel medium,

Anything Goes

It's Saturday, May 15th 10:30am and I just found out about the Scrapyland Guest Designer call and I know I want to submit a card.  Now I should be working on the three cards I need for later today (2 Birthday cards and 1 Mother's Day card)... LOL  

I have a lovely bridal card to show you today. 

I started by covering my card base with wood grain pattern paper.  Next I die cut several of the Die-Namites Beautiful Flowers die, because I trimmed sections to fit them on my card.  I wanted to create background of flowers instead of die cut clusters.  

Next I stamped, colored and glittered my Stamping Bella bride.  I added foam tape under her for dimension and attached her to the card. 

I glued an Elizabeth Craft Best Wishes die cut at the bottom of her dress and added tiny pearls to the card.

I'm past the point were I have friends getting married, so I will just hold on to this lovely card until the next generation is of age.

Birthday Bunny

Hello crafty friends,

Spent the morning in my craft room doing some water coloring (a recent obsession for me) using distress inks.

Started with this cute Bebunni stamp called Hip Hip Hooray that I got last fall at the Scrapbook Expo and my stash of tiny Distress ink pads.

Ended with this.  Petty happy w/how it turned, but I can tell that the Memento black ink I used to stamp the bunny bleed a little.  Will have to try a different kind of ink next time.  

 

I haven't done a video in a long time, so I think I'll do a water coloring video next time. Thanks for stopping by, hope the rest of your Sunday is a good one.

Owl My Love

It's been a while since I posted anything on my blog.  It's taken me a while to get caught up after the holidays and to start creating just for me.   After dinner last night I went into my craft room and created these three love theme cards and since today is LOVE day, it's the perfect day to post them here.

My first card was super easy... no I really mean it this time :)  I used the Die-Version I LOVE YOU Corner Concept die, which I cut four times and arranged on my kraft card front.   This is my first top fold card.  I used a 8.5x11 sheet of kraft card stock, which I cut in half the long way and folded in half.  I added one of the cute owls from the Owl My Thanks stamp and die set, which I colored in green to match my card stock and popped up w/foam for a little dimension.  Super easy and super fast card.

My second card has a few more components, but just as easy to put together.  I used the other half of my 8.5x11 sheet of kraft card stock for my card base, once again making a top folding card.  I matted it w/a piece of pattern paper leaving a small kraft border.  Next I die cut the Die-Version Smile Sweet Frames, manually trimming off the smile for a clean look.   I also die cut the Die-Version Heart Pops Whispers balloons, which I tucked into the bottom of the frame.  I added the same little owl from the Owl My Thanks stamp and die set, this time colored in yellows and added some tiny hearts from the same Owl My Thanks stamp set.

My third card was a little more involved and I have to admit it's my favorite :)

I covered my card front with a distress blue pattern paper and die cut three hearts into the front though both layers of paper.  I used smallest and second smallest dies from the Little B Heart die set.  I love that these dies also have heart stitch dies in the set.

The last thing I added to the front of the card was the "Owl My Love" sentiment from the Owl My Thanks stamp set,

The next thing I did was lightly trace the heart openings w/a pencil to get placement from my owls on the inside of the card.  Are you ready to see the inside?  Drum roll please :)

I stamped all three of the owls from the Owl My Thanks stamp set and colored them all.  Next came the hard part... at least hard for me, because I have zero drawing skills and I wanted to draw some tree branches around the stamped owls.   If I was smart I would have done the inside stamping on a separate piece of paper, which I would attach to the inside, but NO... I didn't stop to think and just started drawing and you know what?  I think I did a pretty good job.  I LOVE how it turned out.  I didn't draw the leafs, they were from an old stamp set I had (sorry, have no idea of the brand).

The last thing I added to the inside of the card was the "Owl My Love" sentiment and a few of the hearts from the Owl My Thanks stamp set.

I can't believe 2014 is coming to an end.  It's been a good year and I'm looking forward to making 2015 even better.  So with that in mind I created this spinner card to celebrate:

I'll be giving this card to my Sister-In-Law and Brother-In-Law along w/a cute New Year's Eve hostess gift :)

I started this card by die cutting the LIFE IS GOOD onto a piece of 5x6.5 black card stock.   Next I die cut two circles into the black card stock to house my Sun and Earth stamped and die cut elements. The Sun and Earth stamps are from Die-Versions' newly released Out Of This World Stamp Set and Out Of This World Die Set.  

I took my die cut black card stock element and lifted it off the card base with foam squares.  I took the middle black card stock ring that was create when I die cut the two circles and glued that directly onto the card base.  Next I took the center black card stock circle section and attached it to the card base on foam squares.  

I took my stamped and die cut Sun elements and attached it directly to the center black card stock circle section.  I took the stamped and die cut Earth element attached it to a penny and inserted it in-between the two lifted sections of black card stock.  The penny helps it spin and move within the channel.  

Next I die cut the GOOD TIMES in red glitter paper and inserted it behind my sentiment.  I added a foam square lifted die cut Star Cluster from the Out Of This World Stamp Set and Out Of This World Die Set.    Here's a close up of the spinning element:
