DRU - Happy Birthday

 Hello crafty friends,

Mary back with a masculine birthday card today.   I know most of us struggle to come up with ideas for guys cards.  If your guys are anything like mine, simple is best, so I've learned to keep my cards for them fairy basic, but with an eye on design.

When I do cards for guys I tend to reach for bold dies that cover most of the my card front.  I feel this allows me to "get away" with little effort (product) on the card, but still giving the card a bold look.

For this card, I started with a per-stamped (Penny Black Birthday Candles) slim card front panel I had on my desk.  I adhered two fussy cut "happy" from the Die-Versions Solo Sentiments Happy Birthday die, across the stamped candles.  On the card's inside, I stamped another row of candles and adhered a full Happy Birthday die cut in the center.

If you're wondering about the color/ink... I will admit, I tried splashing some gold ink (to match the gold letters) on the finished card and it totally didn't work.  I ended up making an inky mess! But I worked through my mistake and created a "grungy" look I could live with.

Here's a close up of the inside:

Don't forget to come join in the fun at the
Dies R Us Challenge Blog.  There's a new challenge theme offered on the 1st and 15th of each month and one lucky randomly drawn winner will receive a gift voucher prize to the Dies R Us Store.  For your convenience, all the important Dies R Us links are provided below.

I'm honored and very excited to participate in this cause.  Skipping Stones Designs provided the stamps for this event and here's what I made with them:

I used the Birthday Donuts Stamp set for my first three birthday cards:

Card 1: Donut Shaker
Card 1 inside sentiment:  "happy birhtday" inside the donut with candle
Card 2: Chocolate Donuts
Card 2 inside sentiment:  stamped donut at bottom right
Card 3: Stacked Donuts
Card 3 inside is blank, but I can stamp a sentiment of your choice

I used the Margarita Birthday stamp set for my fourth and final card:

Card 4: Tequila

Card 4 inside sentiment

How to place a bid for any of my cards...

Step #1
Find the comment section of this blog.

Step #2
Once in the comment section fill in the dollar and cents amount of what you are willing to pay for the card.  Since I have multiple cards available, please indicate Card 1, Card 2, etc.  We recommend a starting bid of $5 or more. Remember your bid includes shipping as well as the card and 100% of the money you bid will go to the Susan G. Komen Foundation

Step #3
Next to your $ bid please type in your email address. During a silent auction bidders sign their name next to their bid. Typing your email address is the electronic equivalent of signing your bid. Also it will help the blogger contact you if you are the highest bidder.

Step #4
Watch and wait.

Once you have entered your bid in the comment section, sit back and wait. If someone out bids you then you may bid again. Bidding will continue until 8:00 p.m. Mountain time 7 days after the first post.

"What do I do once I place a bid"

Watch and Wait
The "Winner of the Auction" will be the highest bid (that includes an email address) in the comment section of this post at the end of the silent auction.

The blogger/designer will declare who has won the silent auction. Skipping Stones Design will send you an invoice for your donation/bid amount. Please pay that invoice as soon as possible, so the designer can get your card(s) in the mail to you.

Bow Wrapped Birthday Wishes

Hello crafty friends,

Here's my card for Scrapyland's Challenge #18 (and my 2nd entry for their Guest Designer call).  The theme was birthdays/celebrations using any brand of die Scrapyland sells.

For this card I used three of the Elizabeth Craft Designs Candle dies, cutting them out of white and baby blue glitter papers.

I also used, one of the Elizabeth Craft Designs Four Bows dies, cutting it out of white and pink glitter papers.

And as my finishing touch,  I used the Die-Versions Sweet Wordlets Happy and Die-Versions Sweet Wordlets Birthday dies for my "Happy Birthday".

I love how simple, but elegant this card turned out.   Thanks for stopping bye today.  Until next time, take care.

Birthday Bunny

Hello crafty friends,

Spent the morning in my craft room doing some water coloring (a recent obsession for me) using distress inks.

Started with this cute Bebunni stamp called Hip Hip Hooray that I got last fall at the Scrapbook Expo and my stash of tiny Distress ink pads.

Ended with this.  Petty happy w/how it turned, but I can tell that the Memento black ink I used to stamp the bunny bleed a little.  Will have to try a different kind of ink next time.

I haven't done a video in a long time, so I think I'll do a water coloring video next time. Thanks for stopping by, hope the rest of your Sunday is a good one.
