WELCOME

Crafty friends,

I'm so very happy to be a part of this blog hop with Operation Write Home.   Today I have three cards featuring dies from Die-Versions' March 2014 release.

For my first card I had to go with a red, white and blue color scheme.   I started by stamping a wood background in red.  Next I dry embossed a star designed onto a 3 3/4 x 5 piece of red glitter paper and using a sharp craft knife I fussy cut a few of the stars out.  I taped this star embossed paper directly onto my card and in each of the star openings I inserted a glossy blue star sticker.   Next I took my new Sweet Phrases -Happy BDay die and die cut it in white and I fussy cut a mat in blue.

For my second card I used a softer color scheme of pink and blue.  I started with a 5 1/2 x 4 piece of blue pattern paper that I glued directly onto my card front.  Next I added a dolly element that I fussy cut from a scrap sheet of pattern paper.  I die cut the Sweet Phrases - Just For You die in white and placed a small piece of blue card stock behind it.  Pink twine and a thin dimensional flower element finished the card.

My third and final card today is one of thanks to all soldiers and their families.

For this card I started with a 5 3/4 x 3 1/2 piece of black card stock and a slightly smaller piece of red wood grain pattern paper, which I stamped an eagle background onto. I matted those two papers and set them aside.

Next I created a custom THANKS die cut by using the THANK from the Express Edges - Thankful die and the S from the Express Edges - Life Is Good die. This is a great technique to use when you don't have a word die you need.  I die cut both dies in black and tucked their tails under the black matted element I had set aside.

My final step was creating the metal element, which i did by die cutting the Whispers - Medal die twice. Once in kraft card stock and once in red glitter card stock.  I fussy cut the star from the red die cut element and glued it into the kraft die cut element.  I attached the metal element to the card on thin pieces of foam squares for a little dimension.

I hope you have enjoy this stop in the blog hop.  You next stop should be Donna's.
