Reading Is Fun - TIME OUT Challenge #236

Hello crafty friend,

I LOVE to read, so when I saw that the current challenge was a reading theme one over at TIME OUT Challenges, I jumped at the chance to create a card for it.

I used some of the Reading Animals digital stamps by Sandra Herrgott to create this scene card.  The rest of the elements (walls, chalkboard, window, floor, rug, etc.) were all drawn by me.  I was going for a classroom vibe, where all the kids sit in a circle and read a story.  I placed the little owl in the window.

I did very basic coloring, because I had a lot of stuff to color.  The finished card panel measures 8"x4".

Thanks for stopping bye.  Until next time, take care.

TOB Apr Mid Month Challenge

Hello crafty friends,
Welcome to this month's challenge reminder post.  Have you started working on a card/project?  If yes, GREAT!  If no, WHAT are you waiting for?  We want to see your Halloween creations.   Remember  the Two Old Bats Halloween Challenge, runs from the 2nd to the 28th of the month and the theme is always Halloween... ANYTHING related to Halloween!

For this slimline card I used a Halloween owl digital coloring image from cool2bkids.com
I water colored the owl using destressed inks and also inked the rest of the card with it. I kept the card simple, but added a moon shaker element.

Here's a tip on how I made a partial circle die cut on a slim panel when my die cutting machine (Big Shot) can't handle anything wider than 6".  I was able to use cutting pads for a mini die cut machine that allowed me to feed the slim panel the long way in and position the top cutting pad over just the part of the circle die cut I wanted cut (see picture below).

Here's this month's mood board for additional inspiration... Hope to see your card/project soon.

Challenge ends on the 28th, winner will be announced on the 1st on the month before the start on the new challenge.  For a full list of all the rules please visit Two Old Bats Halloween Challenge home page.  unit next time... take care.

TOB Apr Challenge

Hello crafty friends,

ANYTHING related to Halloween!

I used the biggest owl in my stash (a VERY old Tattered Angels set from 2009), because I wanted the owl to take up the most room on my A2 size card.  The two sentiments are also from an older Paper Smooches Halloween set called Halloween Sampler.

I started by ink blending the card panel with a dark blue and them a black over it. Then I stamped the owl in brown and filled in the negative spots with black and a little red for the craws and eyes.  I tried using a branch stamp from Local King Rubber Stamps to mimic lighting, but none of my white inks was giving me the look I wanted, so I ended up just creating the lighting bolts by hand.
