Time Out Challenge #138

Hello crafty friends,

The current Time Out Challenge has a "Funny" theme and is sponsored by CAS-ual Fridays

Therefore, I couldn't help but reach for the WTF2 stamp set (LOL, it's not want you think) .  This stamp set is perfect for those BIG digit birthdays, but also for some friendly encouragement cards.  And seriously, I don't know anyone who wouldn't love to get a WTF card... LOL.

I used the Lawn Fawn Reveal Wheel die set and one of the cats from the Katzelkraft Les Chats stamps set.

I stamped a sentiment longer than the reveal window, making it so the reader has to spin the wheel around to read the whole message.  This was my first time using the reveal wheel set and as you can see making a long message means the wheel has to spin up instead of down, so I glued the little arrow pointing up to reflect that.  Normally the window would reveal self contained mini messages, so the direction you spin the wheel is not a big factor.

I stamped "happy 50th birthday" on the inside of my card.

Thanks for stopping by.  Until next time, take care.

Scrapy Land - Challenge 116

Welcome to Scrapy Land Challenge 116...

I've been seeing lots of paw print cards on social media the last few days, so I thought i would try making one of my own.

Scrapy Land has a cat and a dog option... the Frantic Stamper Dog Paw Print set, the Frantic Stamper Cat Print set.  I scattered my paws print around my front card panel and THEN decided to make the panel into a shaker element.  You know how they say, measure twice, cut once... well, it's true when die cutting also.  A little better planning on the positions of my paws would have made adding foam tape behind the panel a lot easier.

Thanks for stopping bye.... I hope you'll join us for this challenge.  The winners... one selected randomly and one selected by the Design Team will both receive a $10 gift certificate to Scrapy Land.  Until next time... take care.

Scrapy Land - Challenge 115

Welcome to Scrapy Land Challenge #115...

I'm showing off one of three graduation cards I made for the upcoming graduation season.

I started by die cutting several graduation caps using the Taylor Expressions Grad Cap, which is not currently available in the store, but don't worry, the Paper Smooches Grad Cap die set is almost the same and its available.  I used my new Ice Grey Spectrum Noir TriBlend Marker to color the caps and die cut the tassel from teal glitter card stock.

The background star die I used is not currently available, but these two other dies can give you a very similar look... The Uniquely Creative Scribble Star die, the Poppystamps All Star Collage die.  I had to do some die surgery on an old Die-Versions die to extract my hip hip hooray sentiment, but if you use the IO Hip Hip Hooray die no surgery will be needed.

On a side note... Have you ever seen a card and wonder how long it took to make?  Keeping in mind that everyone works at their own pace and card making is a relaxing hobby for me that I truly enjoy...  this card took me three hours to make from beginning to end.  The card evolved as I worked on it.  My initial plan was to place the caps directly on the card front, but it looked too plain for me, so I added the star background.  I could have saved time by die cutting the caps from grey or black card stock instead of coloring them w/markers.  On the flip side, I could have made the card more elaborate by making the star background into a shaker element.  What I'm trying to say is, don't be discourage if you don't have hours to devote to making one card.  Use the time you have to make something you like and HAVE FUN.  I can guarantee you the recipient will love your results.
