Inspiration Squad - Jan2018 Challenge 191

Hello crafty friends,

Happy Friday... and welcome to CAS-ual Friday's Challenge #191.  Can you believe it's the middle of January already?  Good time of a coffee theme challenge, don't you think?  I'm a Hot Chocolate kind of girl, but I still enjoyed playing with the new coffee theme stamps and dies CAS-ual Friday recently released.  I made several cards... two of them for this challenge.

For card one, I used the Peace, Love & Coffee from the Short & Sweet Collection ...  I started w/the banner piece and build my card around it, by adding a second banner cut from brown glitter card stock and by using a Tim Holtz coffee stain stencil to get my perfectly placed stains.

For card two, I used the Peace, Love & Coffee from the Short & Sweet Collection again... this time I started by adding soft pencil lines across my card and repeat stamping the tiny cup and my sentiment within the channels the pencil lines created.  I was going to erase the pencil makes when everything was dry, but I ended up liking the lines, so I kept them.

Thank you for stopping bye today. I look forward to seeing your coffee theme submissions to this month's challenge.

Inspiration Squad - Jan2018 Challenge 190

Hello and HAPPY 2018 crafty friends!

This is my first post as a team member of CAS-ual Friday's Challege Blog Inspiration Squad.  The theme for challenge #190 is "All That Glitters" and since I'm not a fan of lose glitter (too messy for me) I used a clear Wink of Stella instead of water to dilute the watercolors of my Zig watercolor brush pens.

I painted the flowers (Truth Is) on both of these cards by coloring the insides of the flowers w/my Zig brush and using the clear Wink of Stella to dilute and spread the watercolor to the flowers tips...  making the tips lighter.  I had to use purple, because it's just my happy go to color.

On this card... I water-colored the background using the same technique... my Zig brush around the flowers and using the clear Wink of Stella diluted and spread the watercolor out and away from the flowers.  I added two fussy cut fish tail banners... a white glitter card stock one under a vellum stamped "it's your birthday" from the Whole Shebang stamp set.  As a finishing touch I added a few Nuvo drops.  Sadly my pictures don't show how sparkly this card turned out.

On this card... the flowers were painted the same way, but for the background a took the Aquamarine Spectrum Noir Sparkle brush pen and making sure the brush was nice as juicy, I tapped it to created spatters as my background.  I incorporated more teal and glitter onto the card by using a die cut "thanks" from the Smiling die.

Here's a final look at the cards and the Cas-ual Friday supplies I used:

Thank you for stopping bye today. I look forward to seeing your glittery submissions to this month's challenge.

Scrapy Land Challenge #81

Hello crafty friends,

and welcome to Scrapy Land's 1st challenge of 2018... Challenge #81!

The Chicago area is currently in the middle of a deep freeze, so I'm back again with a Winter Cheer card.

The "Winter Cheer" die is one of three dies in Penny Black's Winter Cheer die set.  I LOVE the script Winter combined with the block Cheer and you will probably see me use this die several more times this winter.

Under the Winter Cheer die cut is a die cut "Large Sled" from Memory Box, and under that a die cut "Frosty Frame" panel from Sue Wilson, which is currently not available.   I used a packaged base measuring 5"x6.5" for this card.

Thanks for stopping bye.... please join us for this challenge.  The winners... one selected randomly and one selected by the Design Team will both receive a $10 gift certificate to Scrapy Land.

Until next time... take care.

Inky Paws Challenge 62 - Card 1

Hello crafty friends,

I'm submitting this card to Inky Paws Challenge's #62, which ends on 1/5/18...

I used the "A Cozy Day In" stamp set for my card.  I started by creating my card background first.  I used a white and small teal flower pattern paper for my "wall", a wood grain pattern paper for my "floor" and strips of white cards stock for my "base board".

Next I stamped and colored my images.  I created texture to the chair by drawing lines and making the quilted buttons black.  I stamped several parts of the image multiple times, because I wanted some of them raised for added interest.  The blanket and kitty on it, were cut as one and glued over the original stamped imaged for a slightly dimensional look.  The kitty on top of the chair was cut twice, once for the body and again for the head.  This picture shows the dimension.

I created the wall portrait by fussy cutting the two kitties and arranging them within a die cut teal square.  I kept them uncolored to mimic a black & white photo.  I created the photo frame my mounting the teal square onto a wood grain (same as the floor) square.   LOL... I even gave my book a title "Life With Cats".

I'm really happy with my final card and even thou my colors are in the same family as the inspiration colors, they not as light in tone.  Thanks for stopping bye... wish me luck in the challenge.

Inky Paws Challenge 62 - Card 2

Hello crafty friends,

I'm submitting this card to Inky Paws Challenge's #62, which ends on 1/5/18...

I used the "Newton's Naptime" stamp set for my card.  Honestly, this card took me time to come together.  I stamped and colored the image several times, but a just wasn't happy with my results.  As I was looking around for pattern paper I saw my pile of fussy cut images and a light-bulb went on.

I re-stamped my image this time using masks to create a cluster of 3 sleeping kitties.  I colored them using my Zig water brush pens, alternating the inspiration colors on the blankets.  I was going for a one layer card, but at this point I realized that I should have placed the two kitties in front and the one in the back for a more even look to my card.  I basically just didn't like how the one kitty in the front was so much lower than the others... so I decided to cut off the bottom three blankets from the front kitty to reduce the height difference :) and has a last tweak once the image was mounted to a card background and base, I added those three cut off blankets upside down (for a change in I'm not sure what) behind the two kitties.

I felt really good with my card at this point, even thou once again my colors are darker in tone than the inspiration colors.  Thanks for stopping bye... wish me luck in the challenge.
